Guitar was an on-and-off thing like all hobbies you take on. I took it seriously by Year 10 and decided to take it head on with HSC Music (I didn't do very well).
First year university, me and my friend Isaiah wrote our first draft. This is the audio from a video of us playing.
I look back at it now and just feel embarrassed. Just horrible.
Six months went by. Not much happened. Me and Isaiah hadn't really wrote much and I was tired of it. I responded to an ad in the Drum Media and met a goth girl wanting to form a band, which was made up of the funniest people I know. I quite miss them now.
This is one of the best tracks we came up. The drummer, came up with the main riff and I built up the melody from there. By this time I was heavily influenced by Japanese Rock, particularly the Gazette.
I think this was the first song we wrote while I was there. The original track was this horrible rap thing, and I 'rockified' it I guess. As you can tell, we didn't have a bassist at the time.
This was our first gig. The Crash (first gig)
Mid way of second year university I started making my own band. I got Isaiah on board and we re-did our very first track.
We originally had a male vocalist, but he's a chef, therefore busy, therefore no time. So I kicked him out and had a female vocalist try out. We even made a music video! But that was for a university project.
Dear God there were so many issues with this. For one, our female vocalist was tone deaf (yeah I know), and she had timing issues. With this track, I autotuned her voice a whole note up. It's bad.
2012 I find myself forming a pop rock band with a friend from high school. He has potential, he's a good singer, sucks at guitar but he can work on that. Only thing is... it's pop rock. BLERGH! I try to make our stuff as 'metal' as possible.
This is where I am in terms of 'band' at this moment. We'll see where it takes me. But I dream to be in a band where I can embrace my true interest. This is my most recent creation.
One day. One day...
Rafael
